TURKEY RACE  LOCATION CHANGE

Due to excessively high river levels on the Upper Liffey,  and with more rain expected, a decision has been made to run the SVP Turkey Race at the Celbridge Paddlers Club on the Grand Canal this Sunday the 14th of December.  

The safety and well-being of our paddlers are our priority. We would encourage everyone to join us in this important charity event.

The new race time start will be 12 noon with seasonal refreshments for all.  

All boat types are welcome to shadow or pressure the Canadian Class race entrants.  Fancy dress is optional, but  welcome.
 

The 41st annual Turkey Race will take place on Sunday 14th December at 13:00.

Entry Fee: €20 seniors, €10 Junior

All fees and donations in aid of St. Vincents de Paul

Followed by prize giving and CPCC Christmas gathering from 3pm in McNamees (Abbey Lodge) Celbridge.

Important: This is a peer paddle and only suitable for experienced paddlers. No rescue will be available on the day. Subject to suitable river conditions

Well done and thank you to everyone to joined us for the first race of the marathon canoeing season on the Grand Canal.

We had a great day of racing with 98 paddlers in total across 16 categories.

Celbridge Paddlers takes part in the Celbridge St. Patricks Day Parade.

Celbridge Paddlers is a family focused club, catering for people of all ages and abilities.

The club is located on the Grand Canal, a perfect environment for beginner and leisure paddlers, while also providing an ideal flat-water training location for serious athletes.

We have regular paddling sessions on Sunday mornings for all members and additional sessions on Saturdays and midweek evenings for more experienced members.

Many of our members take part in races throughout the year, including the annual Liffey Descent and a series of long distance races (8-20km distances). We also organise a few club days during the year where we have a bit of fun on the water along with a BBQ.

If you would like to give kayaking a go, please come up to the club for a free try-it-out session on Sunday mornings! More information here.

Celbridge Paddlers will host the Celbridge Marathon Ranking Race on Saturday 29th of March on the Grand Canal. 

There will be a Long, Medium, Short and Novice Course. Start and Finish at Lock 13. 

Parking at Cliff at Lyons (W23 F8KP)

FYI: There is a Greenway between Aylmer Bridge (Celbridge Paddlers) and Sallins providing a great opportunity to follow the whole race by foot or by bike.

Canoe Marathon Ireland held their 2024 AGM & end of Year Awards on the 18th of January 2025 in the SLCC.  
Celbridge Paddlers won several awards with paddlers topping their groups.
Father and son duo Morgan & Danny Cooper won the K2 division.  
Callum Brown won Division 5 and Cillian Butler Division 7.

They were each presented with a trophy to celebrate their success on the water. Congratulations to all!

It’s that time of year again! 

Membership fees for the current season 2024/2025 are now due. To continue to enjoy the benefits of club membership the Committee are asking that all membership fees are fully paid up a.s.a.p. and that all memberships are regularised. We are making great progress with the Club Development Project and we continue to rely heavily on the membership fee income to complete the outstanding works.

We are also asking that all members complete the membership form to ensure we have correct & up to date contact details for everyone.  

This year the membership form can be completed online here. Payment can be made by card, bank transfer or cash.

We had another great edition of our annual Spring Gathering last Sunday. The weather stayed fine and everyone had lots of great food, kayaking and prizes! The 250m time trial gave a chance for everyone to measure the effects of their winter training and set a benchmark for the season. The duck collection challenge was great fun for the younger members and our unique Kiwi kayak Tug-of-War was a fantastic spectator event!

A huge thanks to Sean for organising the event. Thanks also to Tim, Carmel, Jean, Morgan, Vincent, Brendan, Niall and Matt, and others for help with the preparations and running of the event on the day.
